Event Description

Join us as author and historian John V. Quarstein, director emeritus of the USS Monitor Center, presents on Robert Smalls who was most known for his political career as a recognized leader of African American rights.

Viewers are welcome to send any comments or questions to John, and he will answer them following his talk.

This Civil War lecture will be in person in the Museum's McMullen classroom and livestreamed.

Attending in personThis program is free with $1 admission, and free for Mariners’ Museum Members. Seating is limited to 12, and chairs will be spaced six feet apart for social distancing in compliance with current CDC safety protocols for COVID-19.  Although not required, wearing a mask is highly encouraged while attending this lecture in person.

Watching remotely? This program is free to watch and you do not need a Zoom account to participate. You may log into the lecture about 15 minutes early. When joining the lecture, you will be asked to enter your name and email address.
